How to Lose 10 Pounds And Keep It Off

By: Mark Hall

Having gone through many months' worth hard work with grit, it is shattering to see yourself bloating back to your old figure. The last thing you'd want to do is fall back to your old state by being slack in your implementation of your new diet plan. Weight loss is a long-term commitment from the start. It takes hard work to succeed, and determination to stay slim. Naturally, a permanent change in your weight is what you'd seek. Here are a few ways to do just that.
Adopt a Cookie-Cutter Diet
Adopting a cookie-cutter diet is an absolute necessity. It is important to guard yourself against 'gimmicky' diet plans. When you're serious about weight loss, you should be open to a no-nonsense kind of diet regime that guides you on what to eat and how much of it to eat on a daily basis.
Another factor for you to consider is the total cost of the diet plan. It is indeed possible to choose an economic, inexpensive diet regime that's healthy for both your body and your wallet. Just as it is important to steer clear of gimmicky diet plans, it is important to realize that just because a diet plan is expensive, it does not necessarily follow that it is the best you can get.
A Well-Balanced Diet
One of the most fundamental aspects of a solid diet program is balance. You can even gauge the success rate of diet plans if you pay attention to the degree of balance it achieves between different kinds of food. Ideally, a good diet places equal emphasis on all kinds of food, without being unduly heavyweight on one over the other. For instance, a diet that focuses on a narrow range of nutrition such as an all-fiber intake or a predominantly high-protein regimen seldom succeed.
Reducing your calorie intake on a daily basis does not mean you need to shift emphasis from one food type to the other. As mentioned before, a healthy and balanced distribution of protein, fats and carbohydrates is desirable if you want to follow a healthy approach to weight loss.
A Positive Attitude
Your attitude is all the difference between a diet plan successfully followed to completion and one that leads to frustration and helplessness without any visible results to show for. When you have succeeded in shedding some serious weight, you need to remember that the game has just begun. Tell yourself that you can prolong this lifestyle. Drive yourself to lose weight further, or maintain your current state at the very least. If you're reluctant to continue with the same lifestyle that got you success in the first place, remind yourself of the health benefits that your weight loss program has brought you.
The right attitude does not mean you need to live like an ascetic or be a fanatical dieter indefinitely. The path of moderation is the best way forward. Diet control means exercising self-restraint regarding the food you eat on, avoiding binge eating, and paying attention to healthy eating. It does not mean you need to be meticulous to the last painful detail. Once you've reached your goal, you can sit back and relax. Try maintaining your newly achieved weight for the time being. Cutting flab further can come later. You'd probably be doing your body good by giving it time to recover from the hardships of the diet plan.
Consistency is a Virtue
Consistency is the name of the game. Whether you're talking of shedding fat or maintaining your weight, consistency matters. Ensure you continue what you started so you don't let all the hard work and consistent effort of the previous months go waste. Consistency, after all, guarantees performance.
